With 69 games left to play, your
Carmine Hose are nine games out of first place in the American League East. They are a lifeless, listless bunch seemingly going through the motions until they can golf again in early October. After getting drilled 11-1 in the first game of a twin-bill, the Sox were easily
defeated in the nightcap, 7-3.
Of fifteen hits on the day—only two were for extra-bases. Only a
David Ortiz two-run monster shot (his 16th) permeated the gloom. Knuckle-baller
Steven Wright did his best—but, his best is best left in AAA. Manager
John Farrell looked on at the proceedings in a confused daze—mentally getting his resume in order. This is a ship that is sinking fast—that will hopefully dump some high-priced ballast at the trading deadline. August is only dimly in sight, and it is over.
