Rick Porcello wasn't exactly
Cy Young on the Fenway mound last night—but it was plenty good enough. The embattled $95 million man delivered six decent innings—giving up just two earned runs in
Boston's 6-3 win over the Marlins. After losing seven straight decisions, this was the kind of performance that he needed to deliver. To his credit, he
did. The Red Sox offense was keyed mostly off Miami miscues—but a
David Ortiz two-run HR was the big blow that allowed for a temporary 4-0 margin.
Brock Holt and
Xander Bogaerts also had RBIs. This was the first time all season that
The Carmine Hose have won four games in a row. They remain just five games behind
The Evil Ones—who come to town next for a three-game set. By the
All-Star Break, this division could be
very interesting.
