Since giving up his switch-hitting days,
Pablo Sandoval has actually done pretty well hitting left-handed pitching. Thanks to an analysis by Ryan P. Morrison of
Baseball Prospectus,
the Panda is hitting .313 against left-handed pitching since the "switch"—albeit in just 32 plate appearances. Still, he's making good contact—even at balls significantly above his
head. As Morrison points out, from an
offensive perspective, Sandoval is on track to perform about the same as he did in the last three years at San Francisco. In the
regular season, that is. If he ever gets to
post-season with us, look out!
