It may seem odd that we are awarding
Player Of The Month to the guy who just blew a save on the last day of that month. First of all, a tighter ninth-inning defense would probably have delivered a win for Boston. Second, in the otherwise dismal month of May, our closer was a shining beacon of optimism. Even with yesterday's blown save, Uehara got
six saves in seven opportunities—posting a 0.93 ERA. In 9 2/3 innings of work during the month, Uehara gave up just
three hits, while striking out seven. Therefore, we name
Koji Uehara as our
May 2015 Player Of The Month.
