The Red Sox will pick seventh in the upcoming MLB Draft (June 8-10), and it looks like their focus may be shifting away from starting pitching and
toward the Collegiate Player of The Year, CF Andrew Benintendi. The sophomore from the University of Arkansas is hitting .391 on the season—with 18 HRs and 52 RBIs. On top of that, he's stolen 22 bases. At only 5'10", 175 pounds, he packs a lot of wallop in his bat. This past Thursday, Benintendi was named National Player of the Year by Collegiate Baseball. He was also named Southeast Conference Player of the Year. Boston may still draft Vanderbilt starting pitcher
Carson Fulmer at #7, but it may be hard to pass up a blue-chip position player like Benintendi. Stay tuned!
