It's probably progress when your team loses in a
less embarrassing fashion than usual. Boston fell to nine games under .500 this afternoon
losing to the Blue Jays, 5-4 in extra innings. They came back from a 4-0 deficit to tie the game on the 8th HR of the year by
David Ortiz.
Clay Buchholz dug the early hole by allowing four earned runs in six uneven innings—striking out seven but giving up eight hits. Other offensive contributions came from
Pablo Sandoval (2-3, 2 RBIs, left game with injury), and
Xander Bogaerts (1 RBI). Once again, however, this team just doesn't have what it takes to get wins in games like this.
