According to
MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez, the Red Sox are close to inking a minor league deal with Cuban second-baseman
Yolian Cerse. The 28-year old Cerse has played in Cuba for nine seasons—compiling a .325 average, with 65 HRs and 342 RBIs. He has a .395 OBP and an .863 OPS. Of course, the Red Sox seem set in the middle infield with
Dustin Pedroia and
Xander Bogaerts. They also just recently signed
another Cuban infielder—
Yoan Moncada to a record $31.5 million bonus.
