Andover High School's
Ryan Hanigan will have to wait awhile to play again for his hometown team. The 34-year old catcher
had surgery today to insert pins into the knuckle of his right pinky finger—fractured on Friday night. The prognosis is that he will be out until
at least through the
All-Star Break. Said Manager
John Farrell,
"We don’t anticipate losing Ryan Hanigan for the entire year." So,
Blake Swihart will get the biggest chance of his career—unless Boston goes out and trades for another backstop. By the way,
A.J. Pierzynski is hitting .408.
