The "WAR" is over (pun
intended). The
Uber-Stat-Geeks have won. Tonight,
MLB Network will debut its new "Statcast", which will annoyingly display things like: the speed of the ball off
Bryce Harper's bat and "how much ground
Jason Heyward can cover in the outfield". Sometimes
more information can be
less. It reminds us of the comment made by
Henry David Thoreau on the invention of the telegraph:
"We are in great haste to construct a magnetic telegraph from Maine to Texas; but Maine and Texas, it may be, have nothing important to communicate." Indeed, Hank Dave.
