It was a forgone conclusion, but the Red Sox formalized their right-field situation this afternoon by
sending Rusney Castillo down to AAA. This confirms that
Shane Victorino will start in right field—despite most fans supporting Castillo's case. The Red Sox signed Castillo to a $72.5 million contract last year—but the Cuban phenom has not played full-time
anywhere for well over one year (although he had a cup of mocha cappuccino in Boston at the end of last year).
Jackie Bradley, Jr. was also sent down to Pawtucket—despite his strong offensive showing in Grapefruit League action. If nothing else, these moves should strike fear into the hearts of every PawSox foe in the International League.
