Appearing on
WEEI's Hot Stove program, Red Sox manager
John Farrell indicated that
Hanley Ramirez will likely hit fourth—in the clean-up spot of Boston's 2015 batting order. Given the abundance of offensive firepower in the new line-up, it poses a bit of a challenge to array those weapons in the most effective way. A likely scenario would have
Mookie Betts in the lead-off spot, followed by
Dustin Pedroia,
David Ortiz, Ramirez,
Pablo Sandoval,
Mike Napoli,
Rusney Castillo,
Xander Bogaerts and either
Christian Vazquez or
Ryan Hanigan hitting ninth. Clearly, this is a
major upgrade over the 2014 line-up and should be able to score lots of runs—runs that will probably be needed by a sub-par pitching rotation.
