Red Sox President and CEO
Larry Lucchino appeared on
WEEI's Mustard & Johnson Show this morning and admitted the Red Sox "did not get the job done" on
Jon Lester. Lucchino's tepid admission of failure still had his typical 'shoulder chip' firmly in place. He stated that the free-agent process was a "roulette-game" and the team had hoped to keep
Yoenis Cespedes and get Lester back—making last July's trade a big gainer. Amazingly, Lucchino also denied that Boston is slipping back into the Yankee-like big contract mode. Go figure.
