Gregorius Headed To Bronx? |
UPDATE: Deal Done. One thing is for certain, the 2015
Bronx Embalmers have a
lot of issues. Here are just a few: injury risk and age in the starting rotation, a steroid-using horse's rear end coming back and looking for playing time, an under-achieving free-agent catcher, an aging palooka at first base, and big holes at second and short. Kinda makes you smile. According to
WFAN Radio's Sweeny Murti (a classically annoying New York media hack),
The Pinstriped Posers are "working on" a three-team trade that would net them a shortstop: Arizona's Didi Gregorius. The 24-year old Gregorius has never lived up to the hype he got while a prospect in the Reds organization. He got moved to the desert in
another three-team trade involving
Shin Shoo-Choo,
Drew Stubbs,
Trevor Bauer—and even old Red Sox like
Lars Andersen and
Matt Albers. In his two seasons with the Diamondbacks, Gregorius has hit .241, with 13 HRs and 55 RBIs. He played only 80 games last year—falling behind
Chris Owings and
Nick Ahmed on the depth chart. He's a good defender who still has some upside, but nothing special anymore.
