It has gone almost completely unnoticed that RHP
Alex Wilson was included in the package that netted the Red Sox
Rick Porcello.
Yoenis Cespdes was obviously the
big chip that was moved for the right-handed starter, but Wilson may end up being the guy we regret sending to Detroit. In fact,
FenwayNation awarded Wilson our
2014 "Under The Radar Award". Why? Wilson hurled just 28.1 innings in 18 appearances for the 2014 Sox, but he posted a 1.91 ERA—striking out 19 and walking just 5. He delivered a 0.88 WHIP and held opposing hitters to a .198 average. Sure, it's a small sample—but a damn good one nonetheless.
