New Threat From The North |
He may not be
The Panda or
HanRam, but
Josh Donaldson is a big pick-up for AL East rival Toronto. Wedged into a lineup that includes
Jose Bautista and
Edward Encanarcion, Donaldson will add punch to an already potent offensive force. Amazingly, Toronto got Donaldson for peanuts (the perennially disappointing
Brett Lawrie, along with two young pitchers and a kid shortstop we never heard of). Kudos to
Alex Anthopoulos for pulling this one off. Of course, the Jays don't have quite the same dearth of starting pitching as the Red Sox—with
Mark Buehrle and
R.A. Dickey better than anyone in the current Boston rotation with the
possible exception of
Clay Buchholz. Let the competition begin!
