Worcester's Tim Collins |
Since
most of our readers are pulling for the Kansas City Royals this post-season, we thought it would be appropriate to point out that at least
one local guy could be a key component of their march to a world championship.
Tim Collins—the pride of
Worcester Technical High School—will be a left-handed weapon out of the Royals bullpen in the upcoming ALCS match-up with Baltimore. As part of one of the best relief corps in baseball, the diminutive (5'7") 24-year-old Collins has posted a 3.54 ERA in four MLB seasons—pitching in a total of 211 innings. In the recent ALDS series win over the Angels, Collins worked just two-thirds of an inning—giving up no hits and striking out one. Keep an eye out for Collins for the rest of playoffs!
