According to multiple reports, the Red Sox have narrowed their search for a new hitting coach to five:
Bill Mueller, Somerville's
Paul Sorrento,
Tim Hyers, Worcester's
Rich Gedman and
Kevin Long. Earlier interest in
Chili Davis seems to have waned. Our choice would be a
tandem of Mueller and Gedman—similar to the 'two assistant hitting coach' model of the last few years. The team is replacing outgoing hitting coach
Greg Colbrunn.
