The Editors of
FenwayNation and our readers have made their choice:
Brock Holt is our
2014 Player Of The Year. The reader judgement was clear—Holt garnered fully 63% of the final vote.
David Ortiz finished second with 33%. Also receiving votes were:
Daniel Nava (3%) and
Jon Lester (1%). Holt also was the recipient of the
FenwayNation Rookie of The Year Award—and thus becomes the first Red Sox player to garner
two FN awards in a single season. Holt's 2014 numbers were: .281 BA, .331 OBP, .581 SLG, .711 OPS, 126 H, 23 2B, 12 SB. More important than his stats was the energy he brought to the top of the Boston batting order. Moreover, he played virtually every position on the diamond on a team that desperately needed his versatility. Congratulations, Brock!
