Just in time for
'Shakespeare at Fenway', the Red Sox participated in a real-life comedy of errors—but still ended up
beating the Royals 6-3. As manger
John Farrell aptly put it, it was simply a matter of which team did a better job of walking the tightrope of their own ineptitude. Kansas City committed three errors and the Red Sox flubbed up once.
Clay Buchholz pitched pretty well again—going 6.1 innings and giving up just two earned runs while striking out seven.
Mookie Betts (now hitting .285),
David Ortiz and
Will Middlebrooks each had two hits in the win.
Jemile Weeks had two RBIs.
The Valentine Magic Number is now reduced to 6.
