Whoever said 'hitting is contagious' could use tonight's
9-4 Red Sox win as a case study.
Xander Bogaerts became the first Boston rookie since
Jim Rice in 1975 to collect four or more hits at Yankee Stadium (4-5, HR).
Yoenis Cespedes (hitting .400 with runners in scoring position) got three more hits.
Mookie Betts also had three hits (including a HR).
Daniel Nava was 2-3—including a key three-run HR.
Joe Kelly finally got a win—going 6.2 innings giving up just five hits and three earned runs.
The Valentine Magic Number is now reduced to single digits (9).
