Dustin Pedroia Has Surgery Today; Season Over
Dustin Pedroia will have surgery today to repair damage in his left hand and wrist that has plagued him all season long. The second baseman's 2014 season is over. Said Manager John Farrell yesterday, "He's going to have a procedure done here tomorrow by Dr. Leibman in Boston that will address what he's dealing with right now. I don't know any more specifics than that. There will certainly be a follow up after that's completed tomorrow." Typically, The Muddy Chicken downplayed the procedure, "It's kind of like a release or something to get the inflammation out of there. If that were the case, I would have a normal offseason and be able to lift weights, something that I didn't get a chance to do very much last offseason." This will be the third time in his career that Pedroia has had hand-related surgery. He should be back in time for full participation in Spring Training.
