With his two round-trippers on Thursday night, Red Sox DH
David Ortiz moved into sole possession of 34th place (the same as his famed jersey number) on
MLB's All-Time HR List. The two dingers—giving Ortiz 463 in his career—moved him ahead of
Jose Canseco and
Adam Dunn on the list. The only other Red Sox players
ahead of Ortiz are:
Ted Williams (18th place with 521),
Jimmie Foxx (17th place with 534),
Manny Ramirez (14th place with 555), and
Babe Ruth (3rd place with 714). "Big Papi" has a decent chance to pass a few others pretty quickly:
Dave Winfield (33rd place with 465),
Chipper Jones (32nd place with 468), and
Carlos Delgado (31st place with 473).
