For about a month now,
Clay Buchholz has been a different pitcher—and that's a good thing. Finally reigning in his fastball command, Buchholz has thrown at least three straight stellar starts. Last night, he went 6.1 innings—giving up just two earned runs—in
an eventual 4-3 Boston win. The Red Sox put up solo tallies in the first four innings—paced by
Dustin Pedroia,
Yoenis Cespedes,
Will Middlebrooks and
Christian Vazquez.
The Valentine Magic Number is now down to 7.
