Larry Lucchino appeared on
WEEI's Dennis & Callahan Morning Show, he revealed that
part of Tom Werner's 'pitch' to be Commissioner was a pitch clock. Luchhino said he was hopeful that new Commissioner
Rob Manfred follows up on some of Werner's ideas—like the 12-second pitch clock—to make the game more tolerable to younger audiences. Said Lucchino of Werner's presentation:
"Tom articulated five challenges facing the game and I think there was general agreement with Rob in several of them. I think you’re going to see a change in the product coming forth; I think you’re going to see a serious drive for a younger and more diverse fan base; I think you’re going to see a more modern approach to technology and a general effort to grow the game." We shall see.
