It didn't take very long for somebody to take a chance on former Red Sox utility man
Mike Carp.
The Texas Rangers yesterday scooped up Carp on waivers—before the Red Sox had a chance to make any trade arrangements. Carp was fabulous off the bench in 2013 (.296), but got very little playing time this year—resulting in a .198 average in just 42 games. We wish Carp the best of luck.
