After a disputed call was followed by a game-busting grand slam, manager
John Farrell was incensed enough to get tossed in an eventual
8-1 loss to Houston.
Joe Kelly was
really bad—going just four innings and giving up seven earned runs. That was pretty much the game—as Boston's offense sputtered out eight hits (only one of which was for extra bases). The loss dropped Boston deeper into the AL East cellar—14.5 games behind Baltimore.
Will Middlebrooks and
Jackie Bradley, Jr. had two hits each—but that was way too little to muster any kind of competition. So, Boston splits—
at home—against a horrific Houston team. What else is new?
