This might be a trend. Having breathed new life into the clubhouse with the departure of
A.J. Pierzynski (a
highly overrated factor, by the way), the Red Sox and their cadre of rookies walked-off with another win,
4-3 over the ChiSox. This time, though, it was a wily veteran who provided the
actual heroics, as
Mike Carp punched an opposite-field hit that plated
Daniel Nava with the game-winner in the 10th inning. This was all necessary after
Koji Uehara blew his second save of the year in the ninth—denying
Jon Lester a much-deserved 10th win. Lester pitched seven brilliant innings—scattering seven hits and giving up just one earned run. The lefty also struck out a dozen
Pale Hosers—lowering his ERA to 2.65.
Jackie Bradley, Jr. turned the game around as he broke up a no-hitter in the 6th by singling in the tying run.
David Ortiz then untied the game with a clutch two-out, two-run double. This could get addictive!
