This trend could get habit-forming.
Another Red Sox rookie took charge last night and led Boston to
a convincing 8-3 victory over the new-look Houston Astros. New backstop
Christian Vazquez went 3-4—including two doubles and three RBIs—helping
John Lackey to his 10th win of the season. Lackey went six innings giving up just two earned runs—although he struggled with his control. Other key rookie contributions came from
Brock 'Babe' Holt (double, triple, RBI) and
Jackie Bradley, Jr. (two more hits). We'd be remiss if we didn't mention that non-rookie
David Ortiz drove in three runs with a sixth-inning double. But the
really big news is that, for the second consecutive game,
Stephen Drew was intentionally walked. Signs and wonders.
