According to a report by CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman, Jon Lester has told the Red Sox he'd prefer to "table" contract negotiations until the Winter. This comes after the team had signaled an interest in re-igniting the talks after their earlier embarrassing $70 million offer. It seems to us that—despite Lester's expressed desire to remain in Carmine Hose—the team's ham-handed approach has rankled him a bit. And, if the NOG feels that they can't sign Lester to what he wants, he may be shopped by Ben Cherington before the trade deadline. This is not good news.
