Torres Signing May Be End Of Sizemore Era

The Red Sox announced on Wednesday that they have signed journeyman outfielder Andres Torres to a minor-league deal. With one of the the worst offensive outfields in baseball, Boston needed to add some degree of depth with major league experience. Having said that, Torres is nothing to write home about. The 36-year old is a career .242 hitter, with 32 HRs over nine seasons with the Giants, Tigers, Mets and Rangers. This signing could spell the end of The Grady Sizemore Era in Boston. Torres (a solid defender and a switch-hitter) hit left-handed pitchers at a .291 clip last year in San Francisco—while Sizemore is hitting just .157 against port-siders this season.
