According to
The Boston Herald's Scott Lauber,
the Red Sox will experiment with Will Middlebrooks in the outfield during his rehab stint at AAA Pawtucket. Boston is desperate to get
some offense in their outfield alignment and could—down the road—pair Middlebrooks with the already-shifted-to-the-outfield
Brock Holt. The added flexibility could also factor into any trade opportunities or other roster moves in the next several weeks.
