This will go down as one of the most frustrating losses of 2014. The Red Sox had former teammate
Justin Masterson on the ropes in the very first inning (bases loaded) and failed to score—
going on to lose 3-2 and end a seven-game winning streak. In fact, Masterson walked four in the first three innings and escaped harm—as Boston's punchless line-up continues to be a concern.
Xander Bogaerts—apparently unaffected by his switch to third base—launched a two-run HR in the eighth inning to account for all of Boston's scoring. In
Stephen Drew's first game back, he was 0 for 2 with a walk.
