Detroit GM
Dave Dombrowski confirmed today that
former Red Sox shortstop Jose Iglesias will not play at all in the 2014 season. The 24-year old Iglesias went down in Spring Training with what was ultimately diagnosed as "shin fractures" to both legs. The Red Sox gave up Iglesias in last year's three-way trade to acquire
Jake Peavy. Said Dombrowski,
"We do not plan on having Iglesias back with us this year. He is progressing as projected. But we do not think he will be ready at any point this season to play."
