No Bruce, No Hamilton In Sox-Reds Matchup
The last time the Cincinnati Reds won at Fenway Park was Game 7 of the 1975 World Series—but let's not go there. In the inglorious Interleague Play Era (starting in 1997), the two teams have only hooked up twice (both three-game "home and home" series in 2005 and 2008). In the 2005 iteration, the Red Sox swept the Reds at Fenway, and, in 2008, Boston took two of three in The Queen City. In tonight's contest, the Reds will be without two key players—Jay Bruce (who just had surgery this week) and Billy Hamilton (the speedster who's missed four straight games with a hand issue). So, if Felix Doubront can keep Joey Votto off the bases (an almost impossible task), Boston should have a good shot at taking Game 1. As long as the Carmine Hose don't bring in Jim Burton to pitch the ninth.
