This is getting maddeningly common. After being virtually un-hittable most of the early season,
Andrew Miller gave up his
second walk-off loss of this series—
giving the Twins a 4-3 win in 10 innings. Miller gave up a one-out double, and then a two-out single to hand the Twinkies the series. What makes this loss all the more galling is the fact that Boston tied the game in the 9th
with two outs on a two-run single by the struggling
Will Middlebrooks.
Clay Buchholz was uneven again, going six innings and giving up three earned runs on 10 hits—including a two-run HR.
Jonny Gomes and
Mike Carp had two hits each in the loss. Boston (back to .500 at 20-20) returns home to face their 2013 ALCS foes—the Detroit Tigers.
