Injuries Catching Up To Aging AARP Yankees
It had to happen sooner or later. The $209 million beer-league softball team that is the New York Yankees are starting to show their age. Yesterday, Carlos Beltran hyper-extended his knee taking swings in the cage between innings (the MRI results are due later today). CC Sabathia is having his aching knee looked at today by—wait for it—Dr. James Andrews. Ichiro Suzuki couldn't play Monday because of a sore knee and back. And, to round out the MASH unit, Mark Teixeira was out yesterday due to 'left groin tightness'. And, this is May. By the time this cadre of Medicare Mashers hits September, Yangervis Solarte might be the only household name suiting up at The Concrete Bunker On 161st Street. Let's hope.
