Call it an "EverReady" Win. The Red Sox got key production from a sort of "battery": a catcher, an ex-catcher and a starting pitcher to grab a series-winning
5-2 win over Texas on Sunday.
Mike Napoli and
A. J. Pierzynski gave
John Lackey a quick 3-0 lead in the first inning. The big right-hander went on to hurl seven innings, giving up two earned runs and striking out nine for his fifth win of the year.
Dustin Pedroia went yard for the second time this year—going 2-4 overall and raising his season average to .289. Boston has the day off today, before opening a three-game set in the Twin Cities.
