According to Brian MacPherson of the
Providence Journal, Red Sox pitcher
Jake Peavy is on pace to make his first start next Thursday (March 13th)—
assuming his Saturday bullpen session goes well. All expectations are that tomorrow's workout
will go fine, so everyone is confident in the current schedule. Peavy lacerated his left index finger—damaging tendons and nerves—while unpacking fishing gear. Hopefully, Peavy will be on track for the start of the regular season. While many fans only remember Peavy's
generally poor post-season outings, it should be remembered that he had
several key wins in the second half of the regular season—when the division title was still
very much in doubt.
