Remember
Joel Hanrahan? The next great Red Sox closer? The hard-throwing right-hander—acquired from the Pirates—was
supposed to be the 'answer' at the end of the bullpen after
Andrew Bailey went down. Unfortunately, Hanrahan
himself was limited to just nine appearances last season due to injuries. Hello,
Koji Uehara! After having
Tommy John and flexor tendon surgery, Hanrahan is expected to be ready to compete in late April or early May. Word is that
the free-agent is throwing every other day at about 75% and will begin auditioning for teams once he is 100%.
