The Globe's Nick Cafardo and others report that
the Red Sox are showing some interest in veteran outfielder Chris Denorfia. The trade market is pretty hot for
Mike Carp (a solid outfield and first base back-up for Boston), so if he goes elsewhere there may be a need for an additional outfielder. Denorfia (a native New Englander by way of Bristol, CT and Wheaton College) hit .279 in 144 games last year for the Padres. The 33-year old right-handed batter has a .280 lifetime average over eight big-league seasons.
