As expected,
the Red Sox non-tendered reliever Andrew Bailey—meaning, as of today, he is a free agent who can sign with any team. Boston also non-tendered outfielder
Ryan Kalish—who has suffered myriad injuries over the last three years. Kalish was once thought to be the 'heir apparent' in right field, but was hit with bad luck at almost every turn in his multiple rehabilitation stints. We wish them both well in 2014. Bailey would have likely made upwards of $4 million via arbitration, and the team just couldn't risk another lost year from the guy they swapped
Josh Reddick for.
