The Evil Empire signed former Red Sox left-handed reliever Matt Thornton (for whom we gave up 23-year old
Brandon Jacobs) to a two-year, $7 million deal. Boston declined Thornton's one-year, $6 million option and didn't even use the declining lefty in the post-season—although he did post a 3.74 ERA during the regular season. Still: "Yawn".
