Ryan Hanigan—the pride of Andover (MA) High School—was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays today. Hanigan had a poor offensive year in 2013, but is a patient "grinder" and is considered a good defender and decent handler of pitchers. Prior to Boston's signing of
A.J. Pierzynski, there was
some talk that the Red Sox would bring Hanigan back to his home turf to play at Fenway. We wish the former Golden Warrior the best of luck in Tampa (except in the 19 encounters with
The Carmine Hose).
