Here's an unexpected twist:
the Red Sox are actively pursuing 38-year old veteran righty Tim Hudson. Hudson (who made $9 million in 2013) went 8-7 with a 3.97 ERA, before suffering a broken ankle in July. The Braves did
not make a qualifying offer to Hudson. According to Jon Heyman of
CBSSports.com, a source said of
The Carmine Hose,
"They really want him." If they
do acquire Hudson, Boston would likely need to jettison one of their other starters, with
Ryan Dempster (signed through 2014) being the most likely one to go.
