A total of
nine players who played for the Boston Red Sox appear on the 2014 Hall of Fame ballot. The nine are:
Hideo Nomo,
Mike Timlin,
Todd Jones,
Eric Gagne,
Sean Casey,
J.T. Snow,
Lee Smith,
Roger Clemens and
Curt Schilling. Former Sox top
prospect Jeff Bagwell—who was traded for
Larry Andersen before he ever played a game for Boston—also appears on the ballot. In our view, the only Red Sox players on this list that deserve enshrinement are Schilling and Smith.
