CBSSports.com's Jon Heyman) they are
also going after at least two Red Sox free agents—
Jacoby Ellsbury and
Stephen Drew. Their incumbent shortstop (
Derek Jeter) was just signed to a one-year extension, but his recent injury history would make Drew a smart signing. Their current center fielder (
Curtis Granderson) has been strongly rumored to be headed off to his hometown Chicago White Sox. Of course,
The Bronx Embalmers also have to deal with the impending free agency of
Robinson Cano.
