Tigers Sport Three Former Red Sox On Roster
While the Detroit Tigers do not offer the same Red Sox Alumni cast as the Oakland A's would have, there are some former Carmine Hose to deal with in the upcoming ALCS. DH Victor Martinez spent an extremely productive year-and-a-half in Boston, hitting .313 with 28 HRs and 120 RBIs in just 183 games. Jose Iglesias (The FenwayNation 2013 Rookie Of The Year) spent pieces of three seasons with the Red Sox, but really shined in 2013—hitting .330 in 63 games for Boston. And Anibal Sanchez—Detroit's Game One ALCS starter—was a prized Boston pitching prospect when he was shipped to the Marlins along with Hanley Ramirez for Mike Lowell and Josh Beckett. Ironically, Beckett (on the DL) and Ramirez could end up facing the Red Sox in the World Series. So, while the quantity of ex-Red Sox may be down a little on the roster of our ALCS foes, the quality is certainly there.
