No doubt the bars were crowded in
Oranjestad, Aruba last night to see their favorite son play third base for the Boston Red Sox. And 21-year old
Xander Bogaerts did not disappoint his fellow countrymen. The rookie went 1-3, lacing a key double in the three-run second inning. While he did have one brain cramp (tagging up at second on a subsequent line drive instead of going half-way), he eventually scored anyway. Later in the game, he smoothly started a critical double-play that snuffed out a potential Tiger rally. FOX broadcasters continually mention the fact that Xander can speak four languages. What they fail to mention is one of those languages is
Poise-ese. It does not appear that the kid is rattled by the big stage (he's hitting .400 in limited action in the ALCS) and—because of that—'Bogie' needs to start again on Saturday.
