Athletes don't get much classier than Bruins center-iceman
Patrice Bergeron. During his long career in Boston, he has been the epitome of the high character player—on and off the ice. In his recent blog postings for
ESPNBoston.com, Bergeron has expressed admiration for Red Sox facial hair—calling them 'hockey playoff beards'. Said Bergeron,
"I’ve got to give it up to them. They have some great beards going." While admitting that teammates
Shawn Thornton and
Johnny Boychuck are the most avid fans of
The Carmine Hose, he is also rooting for another World Series championship. Said the elite two-way forward,
"I hope they go all the way and win the World Series. It would be awesome. It would be great for the city. I think the people deserve it in Boston. Last year, we fell short as we were trying to win for them. Even though it’s not going to erase everything that happened with the Marathon bombings, it’s going to hopefully help some of the people to try and forget for a little bit."
