There he goes again. Former Red Sox GM
Theo Epstein (now President of the Cubbies) has moved quickly to claim Daniel Bard off waivers from Boston. Since Bard was on "outright" waivers, there will be no compensation for the Red Sox. After his stellar numbers as a set-up man, he was converted to a starting role with disastrous results (by the way, revisionist historians are now claiming that Bard
asked for the switch). Both Epstein and current Cubs GM
Jed Hoyer were big advocates of Bard and clearly are hopeful that they can re-kindle his dominance.
